Introduction
The research activities carried out by the GC takes place in the structural investigation of new materials (organic and inorganic) in the crystal state. Our group is formed by 4 full time researchers, which are involved in the different areas of this field of research. Amog the areas we point out the structural studies of: natural compounds, synthetic compound, metal-organic complexes of biological activities and modified drug compounds by synthetic procedures or funghi. The group is implementing the area of powder diffraction, SAXS and macromolecules structure.
Structural Crystallography
In colaboration with researchers from the Institue of Chemistry at UFG and other universities, our main goal is the tridimensional structure elucidation, by performing single-crystal diffraction experiments on samples of organic compounds, synthetic and natural, natural products derivatives and biosynthethic and metalorganic complexes. organometálicos.
Macromoléculas
The new advance in our research areas is the utilization of the crystallography tecniques for the investigation of macromolecules conformations, mainly proteins.
